We are pleased to announce the call for contributions for the Project Management Congress 2019. Authors are kindly encouraged to help shape the congress through submissions of their contribution. The principle theme of this congress is ‘Research meets Practice’. Contributions include papers, poster presentations, workshops, demos, video programs and brave new ideas. However, submissions of a marketing or commercial nature will not be accepted.
Contributions are invited to the following congress themes:
- Adaptive management.
Contributions on e.g. Adapting PM models, Management of projects by direction vs. Management of projects by intent, Predict & Control versus Prepare & Commit, Multidisciplinary approach including social sciences, cross disciplinary research and others, Dealing with lumpers vs splitters, Theoretical foundations.
- Project leadership.
Contributions on e.g. Move from Management to Leadership, Competencies of project managers, Observing on personal level/Project Manager as a person, Project manager careers, Horizontal and vertical leadership.
- Early and late integration.
Contributions on e.g. Selecting design alternatives; How?, Integral commissions, front-end/integrated design. Cases in context. Renewal of Cross level thinking at decisions that transcend hierarchical borders, Design/development activities at lower levels of aggregation, Operating in ‘temporary’ partnerships vs. answering to the ‘parent organisation’, Multi supplier contracting & enacting.
Contributions on e.g. Human centred approach: project actors, users, stakeholders, Collaborative long term relationships, Technical solution versus social acceptance, Strategic collaboration between partner firms, Co creation. With stakeholders, Acceptance problems.
- Education and Learning from practice.
Contributions on e.g. Learning from project to project, Inter-project learning, Learning your way through projects, Project simulator, Educating Engineers, Design thinking in PM, Learning from projects through the parent organization, Learning from projects, topics like strategy, portfolio management, using projects to drive the core of a company.
- Beyond projects: Thinking the Future.
Contributions on e.g. Project oriented leadership; what is a project oriented firm?, The changing nature of work – projectification is becoming pervasive so we are not just talking about projects but across the entire organisation, Developing principles for the future, Projects making the future, Pro-activeness, entrepreneurialism, innovation, risk taking orientation, Innovative and entrepreneurial behaviour, How can we organize projects for the future?
For contributions we offer three possibilities:
- Journal-Length Papers of 7500 – 10000 words based on empirical research into or for project management practice;
- Conference-Length Papers of 3000 – 5000 words concerning project management theory or practice not necessarily based on empirical research.
- A contribution other than a paper e.g. a poster presentation, workshop, demo, video program or brave new idea.
Publication in Journal
The Project Management Journal finds the idea to publish submissions interesting. Depending on the quality and eligibility of the submissions the Project Management Journal will consider to publish a selection in a special issue.
Important notes for submission of your proposal for contribution
In case of a contribution other than a paper, please provide a short description.
In case of a paper, please submit an extended abstract. Extended abstracts are limited to 500 words (language: English) and include:
- Choice for congress theme
- Problem or purpose
- Methodology (in case of a research paper)
- Key findings
- Relevance/contribution to congress theme
- Submission proposal for contribution, including ext. abstracts: 23
